Privacy Policy

Who we are

Rekba is a public-transit app for Algeria — real-time tracking and journey planning across bus, tram, metro, and train. Rekba is the developer responsible for your data (the data controller).

Data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account information — if you create an account: your email address and display name.
• Location data — precise GPS location while you use live tracking, including in the background when you are actively tracking a trip. See "Location data" below.
• Device and technical data — device model, operating-system version, app version, language, and a randomly generated app-instance identifier.
• Diagnostics — crash reports and basic performance logs that help us fix problems.
• Usage data — which screens and features you use, to improve the app.

How we use your data

• Show your position on the map and plan your journeys.
• Power real-time vehicle tracking and arrival estimates.
• Keep your account, preferences, and saved favourites.
• Diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and improve the app.

Location data

Location is at the heart of Rekba. With your permission, we use your precise GPS location to show where you are and to power live transit tracking.

When you actively track a trip, the app may use location in the background so tracking keeps working with the screen off. Your contributed positions are de-identified and combined with those of other riders to estimate where vehicles are — they are not shown to other users as "you".

You stay in control: you can grant or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, and signed-in users can turn tracking off in the app. Some features will not work without location.

Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect users. Otherwise we share data only with the providers that run the app for us:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, hosting, analytics, and crash reporting.
• Google Play services and Google Maps — maps and core mobile services.

Data retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data as described on our Account & Data Deletion page. De-identified location contributions and aggregated statistics may be kept to keep the service working, and records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons are retained for the period required by law.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on Google Cloud infrastructure with access controls. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your rights and choices

You can:

• Access and update your account information in the app.
• Delete your account and data — see the Account & Data Deletion page.
• Revoke location or notification permissions in your device settings.
• Contact us to exercise any data right at rekba.app@gmail.com.

Children

Rekba is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date above.
